A Japanese court paved the way for the nation’s ninth nuclear reactor to restart, boosting Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s push to bring dozens of plants back online following the 2011 Fukushima disaster. Bloomberg.com

The Monroe News reports DTE Energy’s Fermi 2 plant in Monroe County was shut down Saturday and workers will replace about a third of the fuel in the reactor. They’ll also complete thousands of other maintenance and testing activities. The company hasn’t said how long the outage will last. Usnews.com

Both nuclear units at Duke Energy’s 1,978-MW Brunswick plant near Wilmington, North Carolina, returned to service over the weekend after shutting for a week during Hurricane Florence, the company said Monday. Spglobal.com

Senegal and the French National Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology – Institut National des Sciences et Techniques Nucléaires – have signed an agreement to collaborate on a project to create a centre of excellence in nuclear science and technology.
