       Every year the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) puts out a report on the state of the global nuclear power industry and prospect for the future of nuclear energy. The most recent annual report was just released. It is the thirty-seventh edition of Energy, Electricity and Nuclear Power Estimates for the Period up to 2050.

       I have blogged often about the Hinkley Point C nuclear power project at Somerset in the United Kingdom. The U.K. intends to build two new power reactors at the Hinkley Point nuclear power plant. They contracted with EDF, the French owned utility, to construct the reactors. EDF was not able to come up with its share of the estimated twenty four billion dollars required so other investors were sought.

       Now that the South Carolina Electric & Gas (SCE&G) project to build two new nuclear power reactors at the VC Summers power plant in S.C. has been officially canceled, there is a big mess that has to be dealt with. Lawsuits are springing up between different players in the project.
